Metrics” for employee sounds horrible– its function to measure data about a company, employee or organization. With the vast growing of technology– nowadays, software programs are used by employer to ease gathering, analyzing, interpreting data– and looking at it from all possible angles. Criteria for employee performance metrics encompass sales records, production, or attendance which will be evaluated by manager. However, there are still standard criteria used to measure employee performance like;
1. Productivity –it covers how much work an employee does in a specific timeframe. The way to evaluate will vary depends on what the company or the department does. For example like; sales departments may measure their employees’ productivity from the number of sales completed, the overall revenue generated by salesperson. Then, the manufacturing companies may measure according to the number of units produced, packaged or shipped by each employee. Then we go to a research and development company that may evaluate the employee performance from fiscal impact of an employee’s research projects–the number of patents produced–the number of projects which have been successfully converted into products.
2. Skills and competencies are also factors to consider of measurement and evaluate employee performance. The two factors may refer to technical skills, customer service abilities, communication skills, leadership, sales aptitude, and be able to work as team. The measurement could be designed such as written test, online questionnaire, or maybe other metrics that possibly can make it objective and quantifiable.
3. Another factor is “trends” where its function to evaluate how an employee performs over time. The starting points for managers to evaluate are taken from consideration a few factors like whether the sales increased–whether the customer satisfied–whether the amount of positive feedback from other employees increased.
4. The last employee performance metric is training. In training metrics involves test which is done before, during or after training sessions to measure the effectiveness of training program. By looking at the employees’ development in knowledge, skills and attitude –managers can evaluate the effectiveness of training programs–and of course make some important changes for future programs.
You can find many metrics out there, but they definitely have the same function that is, to measure the effectiveness of your employee.

A company will run well if it is supported by productive employees. When an employee is not productive–means a nightmare. Productivity is needed to increase the overall production of business. Times is money– just imagine if an employee wastes too much time talking with coworkers–too much relaxed by making coffee in the break room–what a really bad attitude.
It is really a must do to focus on your job–use your time well when working. If you are productive at work means–your employee will like you–you will not get fired. 4. Do not waste to much time on chatting with your coworkers. Socializing is important, but restrain yourself–always keep in your mind to be responsible at work.
